Protecting Nerve Health During Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy can be a critical part of beating cancer, but some treatments can also damage the nerves in the hands and feet. This condition, known as chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN), affects up to 70% of patients. While symptoms may improve for some people over time, for others the nerve damage can be long-lasting or even permanent.

Learn About CIPN

The Foundation for the Prevention of Neuropathy is dedicated to helping patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals better understand CIPN, stay informed about emerging prevention strategies, and access trusted educational resources based on current medical evidence.

The Foundation for the Prevention of Neuropathy’s mission is to advance awareness, education, research, and innovation aimed at reducing the burden of CIPN.

Innovation Inspired by Patient Experience

Polar Paws was created to address practical challenges associated with cooling the hands and feet during chemotherapy treatment.

Inspired by the experience of breast cancer surgeon and survivor Dr. Constanze Rayhrer, Polar Paws was developed with the goal of delivering controlled, consistent, and comfortable cooling without the risk of unsafe temperature extremes.

The technology is intended to support cooling protocols currently being studied for their potential to reduce chemotherapy-related nerve injury.
